This is the process I followed to make my stool. First I needed to make an accurate cylinder mold by cutting 3 timber circles. I did not want my stool to have a strange shape so I had to make the mold a few times before it was perfect!
Secondly I wrapped 4 layers of veneer around the mold and tied them tightly with flexible rubber tubes. Then I poured PVA glue into the gaps and wait for it to dry, which took a couple of hours. I repeated this method again and again until I was satisfied with the result. The four layers of veneer I used to build this stool worked well, its very strong and stable!
The third step was making it beautiful. I used a piece of plywood for the seat top for strength, and cut the edge carefully. I glued a layer of veneer onto it to make the whole chair same pattern. Finally I glued the seat top on and the building was done.
After sanding and staining the stool the result is something I'm very proud of.
